we have had a 1976 john deer riding mower for about 6 years.
it died.
we recently got a used craftsman rider off ebay.
i learned a few interesting things today as i mowed for the first time this season:
1) the new mower turns much more quickly. when going fast through a tight turn, it feels like i might fly right off.
2) the mower has a key start. drew now expects me to do all the mowing.
3) the old mower seemed to ooze and flex over bumps. the new mower feels like it has no shocks. (wear a good bra)
4) there is a learning curve when using a new mower. i knocked over the grill, got stuck on tree roots, and took 15 minutes longer than normal.
5) a hydrostatic transmission is weird.
*disclaimer- i am normally a superstar mower! i hope i get used to the new mower fast!

Thanks for the laughs! This makes me think of when you were learning to mow for us. #1 - slow down; do not fly off!
I'm chuckling, too! Gotta love mowing. We have buffalo grass, so it doesn't need mowed too often, yet. BUT the weeds that are interspersed in the grass are growing like crazy!
